There are a lot of wealthy and powerful people who want this to be the model for how the vast majority of students experience school - highly automated, cheap, ineffective. These people think of the school system like they think of the customer support wings of their companies. These are cost centers to be optimized.

In the short term, the only programmers actually losing their jobs to "AI" are those who refuse to engage with the technology. Using coding agents effectively is a learned skill like any other—and if you don't keep your skills current, fewer people will want to hire you.
